An immature Cooper's Hawk got my attention this morning as I watched it resting in a tree for almost 30 minutes this morning. Of course, my camera batteries were dead so I wasn't able to get any pictures. But as I was watching and listening to other birds from my deck, I spotted a Ruby-crowned Kinglet flitting between seeds that are in abundance on a tree in my wooded common area. I have a goal to figure out what trees I have this spring in my common area. The one in question is always a favorite with the birds since it seeds out early.
Anyway, the little RCKI was accompanied by my nesting Eastern Bluebirds (5 eggs already!), Brown-headed Cowbirds, a few Juncos, and a loud group of singing Cardinals, Carolina Wrens, Chickadees, Robins, and House Finches. It's always nice to enjoy a cup of coffee with the morning chorus.
Happy birding!
