That Gleason Rd. Wet field and quarry lake is proving very good!
340 Pecs. And possibly hundreds more! I had a flock in flight
Before I had parked. I lost track of that flock. I don't believe it
Circled around again, but can’t be positive on that. I am always
Conservative when counting. Lesser yellowlegs. I couldn’t find
The Greater. And Dunlin were reported. I didn’t have them either.
But will get! I intend to hit here at least every other time in Clinton!
The roads in this area aren’t heavy traffic, so it makes for nice
Birding. I picked up 9 year birds! From Barn Swallow to Grackle to
Thrasher. Savanah sparrow. BW Teal, lesser yellowlegs. My year
Highlights were toward the end of my birding in Clinton for the day.
The collared dove I finally tracked down! I parked in Larry’s spot - Mr.
Clinton - and waited. Success! I finally tracked down a GC kinglet.
A county lifer! Took long enough….. I was worried about that one.
The Trace Run area of Caesar Creek. Wow! What a fantastic trail! I
Didn’t get the L. Waterthrush. But I will be back here a lot! Wildflowers.
Odes. And thanks yet again to the Birding Ohio hotspots site. I had no
Clue how to bird here. Very precise instructions on the site! I use this
Site a lot when exploring. I highly recommend it. Picked up Redhead
In one of those Rt. 73 borrow pits I think they are called. I found a nice
One with a safe wide shoulder to bird from. Yea! Up to 90 for the big year
Clinton. And 2 new county birds. Savannah sparrow and the Kinglet. Yea!
I hit one spot in Warren on my way home. The EcOhio Wetland. By accident.
Long story. I had mapped the coordinates for a shoveler. That someone had
Entered as a private spot. Turned out to be here! And what a spot! A preserved
Wetland. Yea! Won’t be developed like Ellis in Butler….. I explained why I came
To be there, and was given permission to bird some! Picked up BW teal and
WC Sparrow for the Warren big year. Up to 91 for Warren.
This is fun! I am still not doing great though…..! Missing a lot.
Nature notes. It was too cold to get “distracted” by odes and butterflies.
The wildflowers along Trace Run were “bad” enough!
Good birding all.
