Subject: [sbcobirding] Bald eagle raiding Great Blue Heron nests
Looks like no one has posted about this, but for the past couple of days, a
Bald Eagle (presumably a 4th cycle bird, with a mostly white head) has been
at Goleta Beach, raiding Great Blue Heron nests. There have been messages
about this on Slack. Not sure what's left of this year's broods. My
understanding is that the eagle has fought off nest defenses by the
adult herons and has taken young and probably eggs. I saw the eagle myself
this morning, but missed the drama.
