Yesterday at about 1 pm two Prairie Falcons were flying in tandom in the field by my arena. They were vocalizing a lot and flying in the formation like Red-Tails do, but did not drop their feet. After a few minutes they went into an oak tree and I could not see well but one landed and the other was very close, within inches, maybe in contact. In a few seconds they flew off.
Other birds of note include. First arrival of male Bullock's Oriole was 3/18. First male Hooded was 3/19. First female Bullock's was 3/29. We had a little push of Yellowthroats on the 24th and 25th and a Wilson's. But not much other activity yet.
Good numbers of Rufous Hummingbirds have been moving through this last month, but I am surprised that the Black-chinned Hummers have not shown up yet.
Happy Spring.
