Hi,
A group of 6 of us birded the Belgatos Park in Los Gatos this morning as
part of the SCVBA Birdathon team: Chirpchasers. Our team was focused on
'Birding by Ear'.
The morning started with a flurry of activity, right in the parking lot,
where we heard and/or saw Band-tailed Pigeons, Red-shouldered Hawk, Pine
Siskins, Spotted Towhee and Hermit Thrush. On our walk, we were met with
some of our wintering birds - Yellow-rumped Warblers and Ruby-crowned
Kinglets were now gracing us with their song, going beyond their usual
calls heard through the winter. Further on the trail, we were able to hear
the California Thrasher, several Wrentits, and a multitude of Oak Titmice
and Chestnut-backed Chickadees. Finally, it was great to round off with
vocalizing Orange-crowned Warbler, Hutton's Vireo, Hermit Thrushes, Purple
Finches and Cooper's Hawk.
Shweta and I are offering a special gift for a donation to the Chirpchasers
Birdathon team. For a donation of $100 or more, we'll gift you a 8” x 10”
framed print and for $175 or more, a 16” x 20” framed print from our
wildlife photography collection.
