This morning Barb Millet and I birded the surprisingly lovely oak woodland
and riparian habitat on the east edge of the Dos Pueblos High School
grounds. Lots of native trees and forbs, some in flower. It was super birdy
with tons of singing Townsend’s, Orange-crowned, and Yellow-rumped
Warblers. A singing Wilson’s Warbler, a Red-breasted Sapsucker, and 2 male
Bullock’s Orioles were the highlights.
We also birded across Cathedral Oaks but there are people camping there so
we were not inclined to explore much. It’s a pretty inviting tangle and I
had a pair of Hooded Mergansers in the creek there earlier in the year.
