Subject: [CT Birds] Coastal Center
3/26 Milford, Connecticut Audubon Coastal Center. 10am-1PM. high
tide-receding, cloudy turning sunny, around 50F.
A very busy class visit this morning and several visitors.
On the marsh: Our osprey pair was active. Female was on the nest doing
housekeeping, arranging branches, the male on his perch and on the nest,
and flying around the marsh and Long Island sound.
9 Canada Geese, 1 drake Red breasted merganser, 6 Bufflehead, 10 American
black ducks, 6 Green winged teal, 2 Mute swans, 1 Northern harrier coasting
over, 4 Gadwall.
On the grounds & feeders: 4 Cardinals singing loudly, 4 Mourning doves, 2
White throated sparrows, many house sparrows at brush pile and at feeders,
2 House finches, 2 Robins, 2 American crows, 1 Northern mockingbird, 2
Chickadees, 5 Red winged blackbirds singing, 11 noisy Common grackles and
1 Downy woodpecker. The water fountain was busy with birds drinking and
bathing.
