Manhattan, N.Y. City - Tuesday, March 25th -
At least one Black-headed Gull was still visiting the Central Park reservoir on Tuesday, that being the younger gull, of 2 of that species seen there in most-recent weeks. These rarer gulls are usually found on or close to the dividing-dike of the reservoir, and a scope or high-power camera lens can be helpful, if not essential for the best viewing. Also, these gulls may or may-not be present at all times each day, as all of the gulls at Central Park come and go frequently on many days.
A pair of Canvasbacks, female and male-plumaged, were ongoing north of the Harlem Piers Park, on the Hudson River a short way north of the western terminus of W. 125th St., try the areas just below - south of the edges of Riverbank State Park, which is also in-part a large wastewater treatment area. Multiple observers again Tuesday for these ducks which are nowadays very uncommon in this county, unlike many many years ago, when this and some other species of bay-duck could be very common in the county - long-before the current era of cellphone and social-media and eBirding.
American Woodcock was still present in several locations in Manhattan, one again being at Bryant Park for Tuesday, as in many prior days there, when up to three or more woodcock had been present in that small-ish midtown park.
Many many more birds are ongoing with some modest arrivals in the county. Central Park had at least five Northern Rough-winged Swallows, with three of those being seen at The Meer in that parks NE quadrant, thru Tuesday, and others showing at the reservoir as well as The Lake for a while thru Tuesday. More Yellow-shafted Flickers in modest numbers were also arriving for Tuesday, and some Eastern Phoebes - as newer additions to those already having passed or lingering. More reports in due course with more spring arrivals.

Far more bloom and some further greening-up is occurring each day and night recently in Manhattans parks, gardens, greenspaces.
