Subject: [ia-bird] 2025 TRI-STATE Spring Meeting in Sioux City-Registration is open!
Greetings!

The Iowa Ornithologists' Union (IOU) is VERY excited to team up with the
Nebraska and South Dakota Ornithologists' Unions to co-host a joint
tri-state spring meeting May 16th-18th in Sioux City. See all meeting
details and register at: https://iowabirds.org/IOU/Meetings/NextMeeting.aspx
. The deadline to register for meals is *11:59 PM on THURSDAY MAY 8th*.
Meeting registration will remain open after this deadline, however meals
will not be available for those who register after. The last joint meeting
between the IOU and any neighboring state organization was the 2014 spring
meeting held in Bellevue, Nebraska.

Our hosting venue for this meeting is the Salvation Army Western Plains Camp
<https://centralusa.salvationarmy.org/westernplainscamp/> in South Sioux
City, Nebraska. We have an extensive list of excellent field trips in all
three participating states, great speakers, and the chance to see some old
friends from neighboring states as well as make some new ones!

Our keynote speaker for this weekend will be Michael Forsberg
<https://www.michaelforsberg.com/>, a renowned author and photographer who
recently published a new book titled *Into Whooperland - A Photographer's
Journey with Whooping Cranes*.
<https://www.michaelforsberg.com/merchandise/intowhooperland> Copies of his
new book will be available during the meeting!

Also on the docket for this weekend is a scientific poster presentation
session where attendees can learn about new ornithological research from
students and researchers.

Some other things to note that are new or different for this meeting:

- We will be hosting a casual dinner on Friday evening (that you can
sign up and pay for in your registration) for folks that would like to get
together and socialize or make field trip plans.
- Light breakfast (coffee and donuts) on both Saturday and Sunday is
included in your registration fee for this meeting! Please indicate in your
registration if you plan to take part so we can have as accurate of a
headcount as possible ahead of time.

Great birding and fellowship are on the agenda for this meeting, and I look
forward to seeing you there!

Vice President, Iowa Ornithologists' Union
