Weather: The day started out mostly cloudy with temps in the 40s and WNW winds at 10-20mph. It then started to clear and became mostly sunny with temps reaching a high of 50F. The winds shifted to SW and became slightly stronger mid day. The winds then switched back to WNW increasing to 20-30mph with some stronger gusts.
Raptor Observations: Good numbers of Turkey Vultures were on the move today with the day total reaching over 1000 individuals. Mixed in with the vultures were small numbers of Red-tailed Hawks, Bald Eagles, Sharp-shinned Hawks, and Red-shouldered Hawks. The highlight of the day was a Golden Eagle that passed by. Even though it was relatively far, it still provided great views!
Non-raptor Observations: The first Greater Yellowlegs of the season was seen standing on a rock in the bay. American Coot increased overnight with a flock of 45 in the bay today. A Pied-billed Grebe was also seen along with a beautiful breeding plumage Horned Grebe.
Predictions: Tomorrow will be overcast with a high of 41F. A few snow flurries or rain showers are possible. There could be a few vultures moving, but don't expect a big flight. ======================================================================== Report submitted by Maili Waters (<mailirwaters...>) Braddock Bay information may be found at: http://www.bbrr.org/
