Weather:
Partially cloudy sky with early temperature in the mid 40's(f) dropping to
high 30's (f) by the end of today's count. The combination of blue skies
with white and grey cloud formations were of immense help in locating the
raptors that were coming in very high. Variable winds increased throughout
the day At the conclusion of today's watch, cloud cover was 100%

Raptor Observations:
From 9:15-12:00, there was a steady flow of TV's that ranged between 368 -
486 per hour. Large groups of 50 or more TV's were coming through on a
steady basis very quickly, and at a high altitude. Today, we counted 1622
TV's, making it the largest TV flight for the 2025 Season. Surprisingly,
there were few raptors, with the highlight being the Watch's first
Rough-legged Hawk observed over Site # 1 during the 10:00 - 11:00 hour. As
the wind shifted west, we moved to Site 1B (Forysyth Bridge) from Noon
until 2:30. At 2:30, the birds were coming over the NYS Thruway, and then
going slightly to the north towards the lakeshore causing us to move back
to Site # 1. The birds were observed mainly over Rt 5, with some further
inland on the south side of Rt 5. At 3:15, the flight shut down.

Non-raptor Observations:
At Site # 1, 26 non-raptor species were observed. Today's count was
conducted by an enthustiastic group consisting of Devin Banning, Mike Ceci,
Andy Dixon, Janet Chew, and Sue Wyss. In consideration of the birds being
spread-out, their extreme height, speed, and coming through in large
numbers, the extra eyes were needed and much appreciated to conduct the
count.

Predictions:
For Tuesday, 03/25/2025, overcast. A few flurries or snow showers possible.
Temps nearly steady in the mid to upper 30s. Winds WSW at 10 to 20 mph. At
best, a moderate flight is predicted
