Subject: [Ohio-birds] Clinton big year
Slow….. I will probably break the record for the lowest big year total the
Rate I am going! Most waterfowl gone on Cowan lake. A lone breeding
Plumage Horned grebe was beautiful. But not new….. no Common Loon.
Maybe April! But the main goal was the flooded field areas. Success with
Pec sandpiper! 11. Gleason quarry area. New for the county even!
There were flocks of Pipits all over. And scattered Horned Larks in ones
And twos. Ditto for Killdeer. Dover rd. Was another good wet field areas.
Although water levels are down. I am hoping for some more shorebirds in
These wet fields. I need them! And no place else around for shorebirds
In Clinton. In the spring. Foy Martin. And my surprise bird - a bobwhite at
The Gleason Quarry! That wasn’t on my radar! Gee, bobwhite before Turkey….

I gave up on passerine birding with the 40 mph wind gusts. Someday
I'll get back to passerine birding up there!

I did hit a couple spots on Caesar creek. No Common Loon…..

Good birding all.
