The Vermilion Flycatcher (VEFL) is being enjoyed by many - thought at a distance. Early this morning the VEFL was in the creek bed at about 100 yards moving to with 40 yards of Rock Hole Rd.
The bird disappeared from the creek and was relocated flycatching out in the field west of M road where there are three "sister" Sycamores across the field at about 200 yards. The Sycamores: Left tree is white and leaning left, center tree is brown, and the right tree is a greenish. The bird was perching in these trees' branches and flying between them and a couple 15' Syc. saplings to the left.

The bird can be seen while standing along the side of M rd. (be mindful of passing cars as there's not much shoulder). As before, the adult male VEFL seems healthy and content flycatching insects. There are aquatic type insects hatching (I suspect a type of midge?? among others) that it seems to eat when in the creek bed.
Briefly, a migrating Bewick's Wren gave several chip notes, perching momentarily in a few trees lining the creek, sang a few times as it continued its progress from north to south through the valley along Saline Creek. Great morning in the field with great birders and birds.
