On a trip to Carson Lake yesterday, we were amazed at the numbers of American Avocets which were spread out on almost all the mud flats and shallow water areas that we visited. We didn’t count them, but we agree that there were hundred of avocets - my guess would be over a thousand avocets.
We also saw a dozen or more Black-necked Stilts, Greater Yellow-legs, a few sandpipers, Great Blue Herons, Great Egrets, no ibis, many ducks and gulls, a few Canada Geese, and still many Snow Geese.
