Subject: Vermillion Flycatcher, (near) Saline Valley CA, Miller Co., 3/20
Today during lunch, I visited Saline Valley Conservation Area off Block Hole Road (located off M). Where Block Hole Rd. crosses Saline Creek, is where I observed a brilliant male Vermillion Flycatcher which I initially mistook at a distance for a Say's Phoebe - due to the flycatcher behavior from the limbs and overhanging utility wires.
I watched this bird for several minutes as it was favoring upstream location with respect to road's crossing. The bird was working the water's edge perching sometimes out of sight on rocks and other times on fallen limbs within the creek bed.
If chasing, as usual, please do not block the road or "bridge" that crosses Saline Creek and DO NOT ENTER onto the adjacent property marked SVR (Saline Valley Ranch) as it's private. Thank you.
