Perhaps my sighting today was the same male *EURASIAN WIGEON* other birders and I noticed recently (approximately three weeks ago) on the same ovoid-shaped, isolated island east of the lone bench next to the parking area for the Petaluma/Napa Wetland area (east of and behind the Costco building, but 1,000' north of it, so more directly behind the Bev-Mo store).....?
(The bench is adjacent to parking that is on the east side of the street.....This wetland is accessed via the Rowland Blvd. exit from Hwy. 101.)
Next, while watching more than 450 ducks at the Marsh Drive ephemeral pond area (from my Bel Marin Keys Blvd., Novato)
perch, I noticed the presence of one adult *BALD EAGLE,* whose appearance scattered more than 200 of the ducks, primarily
Northern Shoveler. I was lucky to have my camera ready when I noticed what caused the aerial exit by the armada of N. Shovelers...Photos at:
