Observation start time: 08:00:00
Observation end time: 15:00:00
Total observation time: 7 hours
Official Counter: Sue Barth
Observers:
Visitors:
Joe Sullivan, Josh Ketry, Mike and Wendy Zebehazy
Weather:
It was a sunny, gusty, and very warm day. In the 2:00 DST hour, we reached
a record-breaking high temperature of 77°F for today's date. Winds were
directly from the S up until the last 2 hours when they switched to SSW.
More cloud cover today made spotting a little easier.
Raptor Observations:
713 Turkey Vultures came through - with big lulls in-between at times.
Today's migrants were: 1 imm Bald Eagle, 2 sharpies, 2 coops, 13
red-shoulders, 8 red-tails, 2 kestrels, and a merlin (last couple minutes
of my time there). The local coop, 3 local red-tails, and a pair of Bald
Eagles all made appearances throughout the day.
Non-raptor Observations:
Great Blue Heron - and spring peepers began singing in the afternoon - a
nice treat!
Predictions:
Tomorrow: Temperatures falling into the 50's, morning rain and gusty winds
from the SSW will no doubt stall any morning flight - but with any luck,
some birds will be anxious to fly in the afternoon.
Friday: Temperatures in the low 40's but sunny and 10-20 mph winds from
the WSW.
