Observation start time: 07:00:00 Observation end time: 17:00:00 Total observation time: 9.53 hours
Official Counter: Maili Waters
Observers: Bridget Watts, Greg Sanda, Janis George, Jeff Dodge, Mike Tetlow, Rosemary Reilly, luke seitz
Visitors: 30
Weather: Partly cloudy, temps reaching a high of 73(!), winds out of the south, SE, and SW at 10-20mph.
Raptor Observations: A great day for Turkey Vultures with over 1400 individuals! Red-tailed and Sharp-shinned Hawks were also moving in decent numbers with over 80 of each. There were a lot less Red-shouldered Hawks than yesterday, with only 65 today (compared with 180 yesterday). We had all three falcons including three Peregrine Falcons.
Non-raptor Observations: The numbers of blackbirds and American Robins moving in the morning continue to grow. There was a surprisingly high number of Rusty Blackbirds mixed in with the Common Grackles and Red-winged Blackbirds. We tallied over 280 Rusty Blackbirds in the morning movement.
Predictions: Rain showers in the morning, then cloudy in the afternoon. High of 57F. Winds SW at 15-25mph. I'm not expecting much to move given the cloudy and rainy conditions, however there could be a small movement after the rain. ======================================================================== Report submitted by Maili Waters (<mailirwaters...>) Braddock Bay information may be found at: http://www.bbrr.org/
