Subject: [CT Birds] Coastal Center
3/19 Milford, Connecticut Audubon Coastal Center-9:45am-1PM. low tide-
rising, sunny, 45-55F.
Our Ospreys have returned!! Welcome back! Female was on the nest this
morning and on the perch briefly, male was circling overhead. Female then
flew off, presumably to feed.
Lots of visitors on this beautiful day, including a class visit.
On the marsh: ( viewed with scope & bins)- a flock of 52 Green winged teal
landed -feeding, 18 American black ducks, 10 Gadwall, 6 American Wigeons,
17 Buffleheads, diving and swimming, 4 Mute swans, 3 Red breasted
mergansers, 1 Northern harrier coasting overhead and Herring & Ring billed
gulls.
On the grounds & feeders: 2 Northern Mockingbirds, 8 House sparrows at
the feeders & in brush pile, 4 Mourning doves, 2 Northern Cardinals-male
singing loudly, 1 Downy woodpecker, 2 American Goldfinches, 2 Common
Grackles, 1 American crow, and 6 House finches.
