Subject: [SanDiegoRegionBirding] elegant tern influx south san diego bay 3-18-25
I wasn't seeing it reflected in eBird yet, so thought I'd post - yesterday morning (3/18), the spring switch was flicked from royal tern to elegant tern as most numerous in South San Diego Bay, with over 1200 elegants shifting around between saltworks, Emory Cove, and J St marina area (I'd only had 12 elegants the day before at saltworks).  Gull-billed terns should arrive any day now...

The monthly meetings of San Diego Field Ornithologists (SDFO) are currently virtual, open only to members, at 6pm on the third Tuesday of every month.

Two notable on-line resources are available for San Diego birders: the San Diego County Bird Atlas by Phil Unitt (2004) - http://sdplantatlas.org/BirdAtlas/BirdPages.aspx ; and an update of notable records for San Diego County (2002–present), compiled by Paul Lehman - https://bvaudubon.org/birding-resources/ .
