That cartoon is by Rosemary Mosco, whose “Bird and Moon” comics are great combinations of science, nature, and humor, and very birdy. She’s also got a book coming out in May, The Birder’s Dictionary.
Her website is well worth a visit for the comics and more. It’s a shame that whoever first started spreading that comic around stripped off the url she puts on those (I’m sure it wasn’t Mag)
