Subject: [ia-bird] American Wigeons - Amana
I added a new life bird to my list this morning, with a couple of American
Wigeons at Amana's Lily Pond. Broad white crown, pale bill with a black
tip, black tail and white hip patch, dark above the eyes (not green, so
maybe not yet in breeding plumage? or just the lighting?), small white patch
on wings barely visible.

They were foraging with Gadwalls, Northern Pintails, Green-winged Teals,
Lesser Scaups, Ring-necked Ducks, and Buffleheads. A few Trumpeter Swans
closer to shore, 1 Snow Goose, and of course Mallards, Canada Geese, and
Ring-billed Gulls.
