Subject: [GeneseeBirds-L] Barnacle Goose continues - Lyndonville, Orleans County
The BARNACLE GOOSE continues this morning at the Johnson Creek eBird Hotspot in Lyndonville (also referred to as the Lyndonville pond) by the town library. It has been very accommodating by sticking to a fairly regular schedule with the Canada Geese over the last few days. Geese fly into the pond at last light to roost for the night (around 7:30pm - difficult scoping at this point due to darkness). In the morning they start leaving the pond around 8 (sometimes earlier, sometimes later) and fly to nearby fields to feed. By early afternoon (12-1) they start coming back to the pond and rest for a couple to a few hours before flying back out mid to late afternoon to feed again in the fields until dark. The easiest time to see the goose has been when it’s at the pond either first thing in the morning or early afternoon. CACKLING GEESE and a GREATER WHITE-FRONTED GOOSE have also been regular at the pond.

Best,
