Subject: [inlandcountybirds] FEB report of BAY-BREASTED WARBLER at SJWA (not my sighting)
Hi all,
Just the messenger, I stumbled on this report of what looks to be a Bay-breasted Warbler photographed at the San Jacinto Wildlife Area. The report is dated Feb 23rd. Based on other photos from the same observer on the same date, it seems likely that this was somewhere along the tour road, likely in that narrow strip of willows on the right side of the road within a few hundred meters of where it's currently plotted on iNaturalist. The missing feathers around the face look like what happens to birds that extensively feed on Eucalyptus in winter, but there closest Eucalyptus trees are around the hunt club cabins, so who knows where this bird wintered or where it is now.
