Subject: [birders] Friends of Whitefish Point
Dear Fellow Birders,
Michigan Audubon has stopped supporting the owl banding program at Whitefish Point Observatory. Fortunately, for those of us who care about and have supported this long-term monitoring project, there  is another way to ensure that this important work continues. Friends of Whitefish Point has come into being, collaborating with partners Lake Michigan Bird Observatory, Project Owlnet, Hawk Ridge Bird Observatory, Northeast MOTUS Collaboration, and Project SNOWStorm. Three seasons of migrant owl banding will continue along with Northern Saw-whet Owl nest box monitoring, banding and transmitter fixing of Snowl Owls, and fitting of nanotags plus transmission of various data supporting Project Owlnet's Migratory Connectivity Project. This is good news, but they need our help. Please visit their website at www.friendsofwp.orgto learn more. I hope you will join me in spreading the word and supporting Friends of Whitefish Point. Thanks for your consideration. Marilou CapoBloomfield Hills, Michigan P.S. More good news! Nova Mackentley and Chris Neri have just begun their 21st and 23rd seasons, respectively, of owl banding at Whitefish Point.
