Observation start time: 09:00:00 Observation end time: 16:00:00 Total observation time: 7 hours
Official Counter: Maili Waters
Observers: Cliff Dekdebrun, Mike Tetlow
Visitors: 4
Weather: Mostly sunny with the temps in the mid 40s. Winds started out from the east at 5-15mph but then switched to SE, SW, NW and we ended up with north winds.
Raptor Observations: Started out slow with only a couple birds in the first couple hours. However one of the first birds of the day was a beautiful light morph Rough-legged Hawk that came right by the platform. The movement started to pick up a little but then the wind shifted to the north and shut it down. We decided to move in to Frisbee Hill where we were able to pick up the flight line again. Turkey Vultures were again the most numerous species with a tally of 52.
Non-raptor Observations: 3 Sandhill Cranes flew over, one pair and one single bird. Large numbers of ducks continue to be in the bay with Scaup, Common Goldeneye, American Wigeon, and Common Mergansers being some of the most abundant species.
Predictions: Partly sunny with a high of 61F. Winds ESE at 5-10mph. Not great winds but there is a chance of some light movement. ======================================================================== Report submitted by Maili Waters (<mailirwaters...>) Braddock Bay information may be found at: http://www.bbrr.org/
