Hi birders,
My husband and I were walking in Arlington Heights this afternoon when we saw three red-tailed hawks up in the sky. It seemed like there was some kind of argument going on, because two of the hawks swirled around each other very close together. We couldn't see if they actually locked talons, but it certainly looked like that kind of behavior. They screeched a couple of times, too.
I've seen a pair of red-tails in the Heights on multiple occasions. I wonder if what we saw today was that pair chasing away an interloper? And if so, does that mean the pair is nesting, or were they just chasing the intruder out of their hunting territory?
