I went to El Dorado Lake State Park yesterday afternoon 3/10/25. I spotted a group of about 18 Turkey Vultures, my first of the season for KS (or anywhere), and there were 3 Black Vultures with them, clearly identifiable by the whitish wingtip markings. Seen late in the afternoon, in flight low over the trees south of the dam. That would be the furthest north that I have spotted Black Vultures in KS. I believe all my previous sightings have been either at Elk City Lake dam, or near Winfield or Arkansas City. (None of which were this year.) (I am aware that sightings of this species are more common on the far eastern edge of the state, all the way north to the KC area and beyond -- ) Also saw one adult Bald Eagle there, briefly, in flight. No pelicans, some gulls. Didn't scan the lake with my binocs so there may have been some geese, ducks, etc on the water in the distance that I didn't spot, but not in large numbers.
