This evening I had the chance to check for Woodcocks at the Frederick White Farm in Durham. My visit really paid off, with a number of Woodcocks ‘peenting’ and doing aerial displays.
Fortunately there was no wind and very little traffic and I was able to get some decent recordings of the action. Interested birders may give them a listen on my checklist: https://ebird.org/checklist/S217992625
White Farm has been a great spot but it is always worth getting out to check any local fields, especially those with some wetland edge. This is the best time of year to hear Timberdoodles!
