The first-cycle Little Blue Heron continued in the lower Santa Ana River this afternoon, roosting in the willows of Victoria Pond I hadn't seen it there before, but it has recently been foraging near Hamilton during low tides. It is more colorful than the last time I saw it, with the bluish cast having expanded across the head, neck and mantle. No goldeneyes today, with the last one I've seen being the immature male in Wintersburg channel a week ago. The immature female Yellow-bellied Sapsucker continued at Mile Square Park yesterday in pines further east than previously seen in the row of casuarina trees.
