Subject: [Arlington Birds] Mallards diving????
On Sunday afternoon at Horn Pond standing on a bridge I was very surprised to see a group of Mallards diving fully under the water. Just for 2 or 3 seconds, but completely below the surface. The internet tells me this is unusual but not unheard of. I had certainly never heard of it! Here’s a little movie clip:

Is this more likely at this time of year? And I assume they were going after something to eat, any ideas about what it might have been?
