I just drove over the Mile-long bridge and there are seemingly at least 200 eagles still on the ice, in the air, or in the trees along the Polk City end of the bridge. There were likely many more beyond my line of sight. The ice is turning black, so this spectacle won’t last much longer. I counted birds in the photos and came up with 380 plus more to the North and in the air so I eBirded 400 and put that on the posts. Still a big number. One can only take occasional glances while driving across the bridge, so an accurate count is not possible. The ice is going out quickly, so this may only last today and possibly tomorrow.
