This male snow was banded as an adult in 2005. My grandson shot this bird yesterday. Conservatively, that goose traveled about 2,000 miles one way. Louisiana to the Artic then back again come fall. In 20 years, that goose flew 80,000 miles. That's around the earth 3 times plus or minus 5,000 miles left over. The people at the Federal band recovery office couldnt believe the goose was that old.
My grandson sent them four separate pictures for verification.
