- Trustees of Reservations Volunteer Bird Monitoring

My name is Adam Sussbauer, I'm a TerraCorps member working with The
Trustees of Reservations in Massachusetts, and I'm the coordinator for our
two statewide grassland bird monitoring volunteer programs. I am reaching
out because we are looking for volunteers to fill roles in the southern
Berkshires of Massachusetts, and I thought that maybe there are some folks
over the border in Connecticut who might be interested!

The highest priority role that I'm looking to fill is a nest box monitor at
Bartholomew's Cobble in Sheffield, MA. This role includes the volunteer
making weekly visits to the property to visit all of the songbird nest
boxes on the property, where they will open them up, identify the species
living within it, count the eggs/hatchlings, and record such data on
Cornell's NestWatch program. We're also looking to fill a similar role at
Tyringham Cobble in Tyringham, MA. This is a great experience for birders
to get up and close with the birds!

A second project is grassland field surveys, where volunteers would make a
minimum of three visits to their property between May and July to monitor
fields and make observations of target bird species, such as bobolinks.
