Nebraska birders,

On March 04 at 7:30 in the morning, I saw a large flock of Snow Geese flying over the town of Shelton which is on the Buffalo and Hall County line.  That flock was dwarfed by another flock that I saw in a field near the intersection of Coal Chute Road and Maple in southern Buffalo County.  That flock appeared to cover a quarter of a section.  On my way home in the evening, there was still a large number of Snow Geese in the same area.

On the same morning commute to work, I saw a small falcon harassing a Red-tailed Hawk.  This was one mile south and two and a half miles west of Gibbon.  I could not positively identify the small falcon but I believe it was a Merlin because of its behavior.  The way that it was flying and diving at the hawk seemed more Merlin-like than Kestrel.

As I was driving on highway 30 in the eastern part of Kearney, I saw about ten Great-tailed Grackles near the Buffalo Roofing business.  I drive through this area fairly frequently and did not see them here during the winter.  They are usually in this area during the summer.
