Subject: [SanDiegoRegionBirding] Broad-Billed Hummingbird [Female] - Golden Hill
Hello Friends,

I am surprised the celebrity 2nd year wintering female broad-billed is still present today. Here is a copy of my ebird post for details:

Female, continuing. Flew over yard, landed in palm for a good look. No longer utilizing yard for foraging, and feeders have been removed. My cottage neighbors only allowed access through January for the L.A. fire fundraising effort, please do not come into yard now for their privacy, as previously stated.

BBHU perches in the alley west of my house, at top of pepper tree [32.718057, -117.139683] and visits the second story feeders hanging over the alley. Seems to have a larger trap line for feeding these days, as I only hear/see her 1x a day from my home office perch (never predictable). If you come to sit in the alley, be prepared for a long wait. Good luck!

Good birding,

Lindsay Willrick

The monthly meetings of San Diego Field Ornithologists (SDFO) are currently virtual, open only to members, at 6pm on the third Tuesday of every month.

Two notable on-line resources are available for San Diego birders: the San Diego County Bird Atlas by Phil Unitt (2004) - http://sdplantatlas.org/BirdAtlas/BirdPages.aspx ; and an update of notable records for San Diego County (2002–present), compiled by Paul Lehman - https://bvaudubon.org/birding-resources/ .
