Subject: [northbaybirds] Last few days: Redhead among en masse gathering of 1,150+ ducks (12 species) in ephemeral wetland adjacent to the SW corner of Hwy. 37 & Marsh Rd., Marin Co., etc.
2/14/25

Many of you may already have birded the vast ephemeral wetland noted at the above subject area.

Employing my 50x scope today, distant views of 11 duck species were viewed....and one American Kestrel
perched on telephone line near me ....per photos and checklist via: https://ebird.org/checklist/S213358461

Last Sunday on 2/9/25, I noticed one REDHEAD among the even larger throng of ducks that remain south of Marsh Rd.

Scope a must.

Busy this weekend? No worries, as this ephemeral wetland pool of ~50+ acres will persist into March, perhaps April, even without a drop more of rain.

Lastly:

Note that William Legge observed at this location three REDHEAD here a couple of days ahead of my 2/9/25 visit, in addition to
one TUFTED DUCK and one male EURASIAN WIGEON.

Back to the Valentine's Day evening .....and wishing everyone sweet joy watching the wonderful birds.

Regards,

Daniel Edelstein
