Pigeon Guillemot (Cepphus columba) (1) CONFIRMED
- Reported Feb 13, 2025 07:13 by Linus Blomqvist
- Point Conception Lighthouse (seawatch only, restricted access), Santa Barbara, California
- Map: http://maps.google.com/?ie=UTF8&t=p&z=13&<q...>,-120.4708001&<ll...>,-120.4708001 - Checklist: https://ebird.org/checklist/S213151627 - Comments: "This was a two-stage surprise. I first spotted it close to shore and just thought, oh look, a Guillemot, because I'm used to seeing them at Point Conception at other times of year. The first surprise that dawned on me was that it was in alternate plumage - all black with white oval patches on the wings. Then I checked BOSBC and realized they're very rare in winter. By the time all of this had sunk in it was too late to get a photo."
