Barrow's Goldeneye (Bucephala islandica) (1) CONFIRMED

- Comments: "Continuing female. Continually diving every 2 to 5 seconds and a bit backlit so not the best views today from the northern side of the lagoon. The head never as erect as seen on past visits but still showed a more prominently steep forehead than the Common Goldeneyes and a mostly yellow bill with a dark nail and mottled dark color at the base of the bill which appeared slightly shorter than the Common Goldeneyes."

- Comments: "Continuing male back for at least its second winter. Today this bird was seen in the leafless willows at the northeast side of the campground (not Hwy 1) bridge over San Simeon Creek. Black and white birds with bold black streaks along the otherwise white flanks, bold black streaks in the undertail coverts, black auriculars, and it appeared to be molting in black on the throat. Black head with white cental crown stripe and white supercilium, bold white edges on tertials, and two white wingbars on black wings. (photos)"
