Subject: [CT Birds] Coastal center
2/5/25 Milford, Connecticut Audubon Coastal Center. 10am-1PM. sunny,
30F, low tide rising, much of marsh frozen.
No human visitors this morning.
On the marsh: about 200 Canada geese , many far out and 1 dead Canada
goose lying on the edge of the marsh, feathers everywhere-disemboweled .
Cause of death-unknown. 2 northern harriers were soaring over the marsh
and one landed and was consuming the goose for a long time.
24 American Black ducks, 4 Gadwall, 2 Bufflehead, 2 Greater Black backed
gulls with numerous Ring billed and Herring gulls- 1 eating a fish. Bald
eagle flew over.
On the grounds & feeders: 4 White throated sparrows, 3 Song sparrows, 1
Swamp sparrow, 9 House sparrows, 6 House finches, 1 Titmouse, 3 Chickadees
& 2 Cardinals.
