Subject: [IN-BIRD-L] Unexpected new yard bird, Monroe County
Thanks to my cat who insisted I get out of bed early to feed him this morning, I added an unexpected new bird to my yard list: a Barred Owl. The bird was perched on a T-post that supports the fence surrounding the bird feeders. I watched the owl for five minutes as it looked around the yard. I turned away for a few seconds; when I looked back, the owl was gone.

Listed below is the owl as well as some birds from January. Unless otherwise stated, all were birds counted at my home.
