The Arkansas Game and Fish Commission has Barn Owl box plans and some
boxes in the agriculture areas of eastern Arkansas have been occupied.
Many factors contribute to the Barn Owl decline such as changes in
farming practices, and pesticides. As with other declining birds,
everyone that wants Barn Owls will not get them. If you have the right
habitat, make and put up or but Barn Owl boxes and see if you can get
some. There is a better chance of getting occupation of Screech Owl
Boxes by these smaller owls not dependent on agriculture. But don't just
stop with Owls, there are 85 species of birds that need cavities, and
most will use nest boxes is the correct size and properly located.
