Subject: [sbcobirding] Cachuma CBC Report and Burrowing Owls
Keeping up with John, here is the report for the Cachuma CBC.  I am late because I am slow, but we had 139 species with the rarities being Zone-tailed Hawk, White-winged Dove, Yellow Warbler and Swamp Sparrow.   The dry conditions probably led to the low thrush numbers, and maybe the poor oak conditions were what let to high woodpecker numbers.
I spent (obviously not enough) time looking for Burrowing Owl before the count but we found none.  Since the Count, one was found by Peter Schneekloff near Alisos x Happy Cyn., and Frankie Gonzalez found one on Armour Ranch Rd. between the round about and Happy Cyn at 5:30 am on January 20, and I found one here on the ranch in a new location yesterday.
Thanks for everyone who helped on the Count.
