Took a bit longer to find than expected, but eventually found it just past the last bridge. Slightly larger than surrounding common’s with distinctive low, flat shaped top head, steep forehead, richer brown head coloration, and all orangish bill."

- Comments: "continuing female on the down creek side of the western most golf cart bridge over San Luis Obispo Creek. Larger headed goldeneye than Common with a mostly yellow bill except for the base which was mottled dark at the base. The bill was shorter and small than adjacent Common Goldeneyes. The brown head had an obvious peak at the front of the crown and looked wider from front to back. I never saw the wing panel. (photos)"
Counted one-by-one as they were foraging in the grass along Cedarwood Drive, across from the intersection of Cedarwood Drive and Beechwood Drive.
Some individuals with rufous, others with finely streaked brown crown stripes; all with pale median crown stripe; gray face with pale supercilium; black line through the eye; light brown cheeks; pale eye arcs; pale throat; faint dark malar stripe; pale unstreaked breast and belly; brown upper back with dark streaks; two very thin pale wing bars; pink bill with a dark tip; pink legs and feet.
