This morning two ducks were coasting around together on the thawed portions of the South Pond on the Brown Farm, East Fayetteville. One, the smaller of the two, was clearly a male gadwall in fine form. The other larger duck didn’t have the male’s markings and, also, the back was white, as if snow had fallen on it. The head of this one was brown. Didn’t neatly fit what the bird books show as a female.
