Would folks who are going to see the longspurs on Heath Rd, LaGrange and Lark sparrows at Westview Cemetery in Kinston please submit your checklists to the NC Bird Atlas? You don't need to do anything differently (no breeding codes this time of year except for owls and hawks) although they would prefer checklists to be less than an hour and less than a mile traveled.
If you have already visited these areas, please change the portal for your existing checklist to NC Bird Atlas. This is easy to do on the computer: 1) open the checklist, 2) pull down the "Checklist Tools" menu that's located on the right side of the page. 3) Select "Change Portal" and then 4) select NC Bird Atlas from the choices shown.
Specifically, these people saw species today that are not in the Atlas database for this block: Dan Kaplan at 12:40 pm -- Orange-crowned Warbler Alex Fuller at 11:18 and 8:35 -- Northern Flicker, PIleated woodpecker and Fox Sparrows Dana Miller at 8:50 -- Purple Finch Eddie Owens at 7:37 -- Wild Turkey Jacob Clark at 6:56 -- Rusty Blackbird
