Subject: Chestnut-collared Longspur in "balmy" Fayetteville -- yes
Chestnut-collared Longspur first observed by Kenny Younger in Fayetteville January 19 is still present and at about the same spot, as of noon today. I saw it at mid-morning in the plowed field, standing bright as can be on a big dirt clod, roughly associated with meadowlarks.
A couple of hours later, Patty McLean-Michael Linz picked it up again, nearby, flying and giving calls while associated with a big meadowlark flock.
Today was my 4th try for this bird and the best in terms of temp — frigid 4 F on first day, almost 30 F today — "balmy" almost.
