Subject: [GeneseeBirds-L] RBA Trip to Nations Rd.
Rick Stevens and I led the RBA trip to the Nations Rd, area today with 10 hardy participants on a cold afternoon (wind chill in the teens). Target species, Harriers and Short-eared Owls were plentiful, with 10 Short-ears on the main trip, from Houston, Nations and Little Rds. and one more I saw along Avon Rd. across from Leg Up Stables. We had 6 Harriers in all. I had a Rough-legged Hawk along S. Avon Rd. on my way up to the trip and then again, or a different one, along Avon Rd. (by Roots Tavern) at the end of the trip. One special moment was seeing and hearing a Raven flying along Houston Rd. We saw three Bluebirds in the same area. There were large flocks of Canada Geese flying overhead throughout the afternoon up to sunset. We had 24 species total.
