Subject: [cayugabirds-l] final Ithaca Christmas bird count numbers
We have completed the final accounting and review of our 2025 Christmas
Bird Count held on 1 January (as it is every year). The total is *81 *species
and an individual bird count of *27,308*. Both of these numbers are lower
than our ten-year averages, most likely due to the persistent light to
heavy rain showers throughout the day.
For general information about the local count see the page under
"Resources" on the Cayuga Bird Club's website
<http://www.cayugabirdclub.org/>. For the bigger picture see the National
Audubon site
<https://www.audubon.org/community-science/christmas-bird-count>. And for
the most detailed reporting on our Ithaca count, see the full spreadsheet
of this year's results as well as historical data here
