Owl Aficionados: Owls are particularly interesting to birders and non-birders alike. Accept that fact as a given as it won't go away.
Perhaps any warning sign should say something like: Warning! Never approach owls! They're easily frightened. It doesn't actually say there is an owl present or exactly where it is.
If you don't like that, then probably no warning at all is better.
And we probably shouldn't post exact locations on this listserve. Just a thought.
